Vihorlatský národný teleskopThe main device in the Astronomical Observatory in the gap Kolonické sedlo is the VNT (Vihorlat national telescope) with the diameter of the main mirror 1 meter. The telescope is an original device made in the Astronomical Observatory in Odessa under the guidance of professionals L. Paulin (main constructor), N. Faščevský (optometrist) and A. Riabov (electronic expert). The installation of the telescope in the gap Kolonické sedlo is a result of long-term cooperation between both institutions, representatives of which, prof. Valentin Karetnikov, DrSc. (Odessa) and RNDr. Igor Kudzej, CSc. (Humenné), signed on 19.10.1999 Contract on Scientific – Technical Cooperation. The telescope with assembly was within the contract gradually transported and assembled in the Astronomical Observatory in the gap Kolonické sedlo during two years.
